Privacy Policy

Last updated 28 July 2026

This policy explains what PriceITT collects when you use priceitt.com, why we collect it, and what control you have over it. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than legalese.

The short version

  • You can browse prices and build a list without giving us anything.
  • We collect what we need to run the service — nothing is sold to advertisers or data brokers.
  • Your lists, receipts and spending history are yours, and you can delete them.

1. Who we are

PriceITT is a grocery price-comparison service for Trinidad & Tobago, operated by RedXDigitals, a business registered in Trinidad & Tobago. "We" and "us" in this policy mean RedXDigitals, which is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us any time at [email protected] or through our contact page.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details. Your name, an optional display name, your email address, and a password (which we store only as a secure one-way hash — we never see it).
  • Things you create. Grocery lists and their items, recipes, favourite stores, and any notes or custom prices you add.
  • Receipts. If you scan a receipt, we store the image and the line items, prices, store and date read from it.
  • Contributions. Prices, products or stores you submit for review, which our moderators check before publishing.
  • Messages. Anything you send us through the contact form or by email, including your name and email address so we can reply.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage analytics. We run our own first-party analytics: the pages you view, the page that referred you, your IP address, and your browser's user-agent string. A first-party visitor_id cookie lets us count returning visitors without identifying you personally.
  • Approximate location from your IP. We resolve IP addresses to a city, region and country so we know roughly where our visitors are. We do not store street-level location from your IP.
  • Precise location — only if you allow it. If you use trip planning to find the nearest store or the best route, your browser will ask permission before sharing your location. We use it for that request and do not keep a location history.

Information stored only in your browser

If you build a list as a guest, it lives in your browser's local storage — not on our servers. It is copied to your account only if you choose to sign up. Your light/dark theme preference is stored the same way.

3. Why we use it

  • To provide the service: showing prices, saving your lists, reading your receipts, planning routes, and sharing lists with people you invite.
  • To keep the catalog accurate — prices from receipts and submissions feed the comparisons everyone sees.
  • To secure the service: detecting abuse, spam and automated scraping, and rate-limiting forms.
  • To understand what's working, in aggregate, so we can improve the site.
  • To reply to you when you get in touch, and to send essential account email such as email verification and password resets.

We rely on performing our contract with you (running your account), your consent (precise location, optional marketing), and our legitimate interests in operating and securing a service that is accurate and not abused.

4. What we publish

Prices and products you contribute become part of the public catalog once approved. They are published as price data attached to a store — not under your name, and never with your email address or receipt image attached. Your grocery lists are private unless you share them; a shared link can be opened by anyone who has it, and you can revoke it at any time. A recipe is private until you choose to publish it.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, for the purposes above:

Provider What it handles
Hosting & database providerRuns the application and stores your data
CloudflareContent delivery, security filtering, image storage and email routing
ResendSends transactional email such as verification and password resets
Receipt-scanning providerReads the text and prices from a receipt image you upload
IP geolocation providerTurns an IP address into an approximate city and country
Mapping providerCalculates distances and routes for trip planning

Some of these providers operate outside Trinidad & Tobago, so your information may be processed abroad under contractual safeguards. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, users or the security of the service.

6. Cookies

We use a small number of first-party cookies and no third-party advertising or tracking cookies:

  • Session cookie — keeps you signed in and protects forms against cross-site request forgery. Essential.
  • visitor_id — a random identifier, kept for one year, that lets us count unique visitors. It is not linked to your identity unless you are signed in.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the session cookie will stop you signing in.

7. How long we keep it

  • Account data and the content in it, for as long as your account is open.
  • Receipts and their scanned line items, until you delete them or close your account.
  • Analytics records, in a form that isn't tied to your name, for up to 24 months.
  • Published prices stay in the catalog as part of the public price history, even after an account closes — they are not personal information at that point.

8. Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, or delete it. Most of it you can handle yourself: your profile settings let you update your details and delete your account, and lists, receipts and recipes can be deleted individually. For anything else, email [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we've handled a request, you may complain to the Office of the Information Commissioner of Trinidad & Tobago.

9. Security

The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are hashed, and access to production data is limited to people who need it. No service can promise perfect security, but if a breach ever affects your information we will tell you and the relevant authority promptly.

10. Children

PriceITT isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our practices change, and the date at the top will always tell you which version you're reading. If a change materially affects you, we'll give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect.
